I love the animation and sound effects. :)

I have a theory, a game theory, if you may say, what if this was some form of purgatory that Mario is forced to go through, which is why the background has this grainy, blurry white look to it, and the game restarts no matter what, even if you "beat" the game, you still have to do it all over again.
